Teacher Appreciation Idea Round-Up

Teacher Appreciation Week is almost here. It is the first full week in May, which falls on May 5-9 this year.

Confession. I have yet to come up with a gift for my daughter's teachers. {Gasp}

Last year I had gifts planned out in January. January, people!! It's the middle of April and I still haven't come up with something to wow their socks off yet. I'll get there. And I'll be sure to post what I come up with....hopefully soon!

But as I have searched Pinterest high and low, I thought I would bring to you some really cute and simple ways to say thank you to your teachers through out the week.

Remember (and I am saying this to myself) you don't have to do something grand. Most teachers just want to know that you care about that time and effort that they have invested into your child's life. A simple thank you note would suffice.

Here are some ideas to get you started:

1. I have to include this grilling set first from Mom on Time Out for all the men teachers since I am married to a man teacher! Great idea for those of you struggling to find a gift that a man would enjoy!

2.  Most teachers I know love hand soaps and lotions. Fill a basket with some smell goods and download the printable from eighteen25.

3. Gift cards- this is a printable for Target ( the link has one for Sonic and Applebees, as well) but really, you can't go wrong with a gift card!!

4. Love this nail polish and file idea! I did something similar last year. But this printable from She's {kinda} Crafty is darling!

5. This is a cute idea from Urban Sitter for a movie basket. You could fill with movie passes, popcorn, candy, dvds, anything for a movie out or a movie night at home.  Get the free printable from Tater Tots and Jello.

6. Every teacher has been in this moment. Purchase on etsy.

KEEP CALM and pretend it's on the lesson plan Acrylic Tumbler

7. For those who like to bake- Or you could spend the money on store bought...cheater, cheater.
Get the printable here at Sweet Metel Moments.

I hope this helps get your creative juices flowing! I would love to hear any other ideas you have. Comments welcome!!

Teacher Appreciation Gifts 2013 with free printable

My daughter is off to school with her teachers' gifts in hand so now I can show you what we did. I know you've been on the edges of your seats waiting in anticipation.

So....here it is.

I know you can't tell from this picture what this is. Don't worry. I thought about that. Keep reading. I just wanted you to see the finished product first. And you can probably tell from the tag that says, "Teachers like you PAINT bright futures" along with the picture of fingernails being painted that this has something to do with nail polish. And you're right. This is a manicure (or pedicure) kit that I put together.

Now for what's inside.

This is a picture of what the bags look like without the wrapping. Cute, huh? And believe it or not, these were inexpensive to put together. I got all these items from the Dollar Tree. I got the Thirty One Littles Carry All Caddys for free by hosting a party back in January. (Yes, I was thinking about teacher appreciation gifts in January). So I spent $30 total on Katie's 3 teachers combined.

Materials needed to assemble:
  • container
  • nail polish
  • nail file
  • clippers
  • polish remover
  • cotton pads (for removing polish)
  • pedicure kit
  • ribbon and wrapping
  •  tag
Here is a free printable of the tags if you would like to make these at home.

Leave a comment and let me know what you are doing for your teachers this week.

Happy Teacher Appreciation Week to all our teachers! Thank you for all you do!!

Teacher Appreciation Week (May 6-10)

Teacher Appreciation Week

Update: You can now see the gifts I made for Katie's teachers here.

Just want to remind you guys that next week (May 6-10) is Teacher Appreciation Week. When my daughter entered public schools last year, I knew I was going to do my best to make her teachers know that I appreciate the hard work they did all year. I LOVE me some teachers!! I worked as a school teacher myself for 4 years before my daughter came along and we decided it was best to stay at home. I am also married to a teacher (the most awesome teacher of all!!), and my mom and sisters are teachers. And while I say sisters-plural, one teaches in public school and gets paid, the other homeschools. But I would NEVER forget the fact that she is a teacher, nonetheless. If you read this and know someone who homeschools their children, think about letting them know that they are appreciated.

I would love to share with you all what I plan to do for Katie's teachers next week. But on the chance that they stop by and read this, I will wait to show you. I will however direct you to my pinterest board where you can find inspiration to get you started if you haven't already.

I will update this post next week with the pics of their goodies. Don't forget to do something next week for your child(ren)'s teachers- however big or small the gesture. They deserve to be appreciated!

This is what I made for Katie's Pre-K teachers last year-this is a picture from Pinterest-not my picture
